Masjid Di Oversea

11/01/2014

Bismillah,

Arriving at 7.30 pm in Edinburgh from our visit to Glasgow, my housemates and I went to the mosque to perform our prayer at Edinburgh Central Mosque. Isha' prayer is performed jamaah at 7pm so the mosque is usually closed at 7.30 pm. However, we are lucky enough to arrive at the mosque just before the security guard locks the door.

"Are you coming to pray ?"

"Yes, is it close"

"Do you have wudu' ?"

"No, we dont..."

"It's fine, just go get your wudu' as quick as possible"

We rushed down and took our wudu'(as the place for wudu' is downstair). Then we went up....

"Guys, just be calm. Dont rush. Relax. Perform your prayer comfortably. I will lock the door for a while and I will go check around the mosque. Remember, dont rush. Perform your prayer nicely. I will come back to let you out"

After we finished our prayer, while we are putting on our shoes, we had a chat (kinda introduction) then we left after thanking him.

P/S: the main point that I want to bring here is how in non-islamic country, its muslim is really thoughtful and true muslim even if we are just looking at the security guard.
1. He is willing to wait for us even though his working time is over because it's already 8pm
2. He emphasize the importance of comfort(as not in rush) in performing prayers
3. He even got time to have a chat(tanya khabar) -  this kind of approach is really important in strengthening the ukhwah between brothers.

in Malaysia, do we have these kind of situation. we wight or might not. Not trying to criticize but try to tell that we, Malaysians need to be a true muslim in all aspects :D

Barakallhualaik...

  1. Good description indeed. But I think in Malaysia we do have this value too but somehow due to comfort zone that Muslims have we tend to forget every details of these parts.

The main challenge would be to go out of this so called comfort zone and try to be a good muslim as asked by Islam is somthing we need to work on. It is hard but it is possible.
