Bismillah,
Mafhumnya(Paraphrasing)
There was one time when Sahabat(a friend) noticed Rasulullah SAW sad face so he asked,
"Ya Rasulullah, why do you look sad?"
Rasulullah SAW said, "Jibril (Malaikat) promised to see me today but he did not come."
That time, happened to be, there was a dog staying at his house.
Next morning, after the dog went away, Rasulullah SAW washed the place where the dog sat.
Then, Jibril came.
Rasulullah said, "Ya Jibril, why didnt you come yesterday? You promised me to see me yesterday"
Jibril said, " Ya Rasulullah, yes, I promised to come yesterday but I couldnt. We(malaikat) will never enter a house with a dog"
Notes:
-in this hadith, we are told that malaikat will not be in the house with dogs. Islam forbid we from having dogs in the house except for security.
-we need to wash the cloth that got contact with dogs with water seven times, staring with water mixed with soil.

Real Muslim
Bismillah,
Syeikh Mohammad Abduh berkata:
Translation: " Syeikh Mohammad Abduh said, " I see Islam (in Europe), but I do not see Muslims. And I see Muslim (in Islamic country) but I do not see Islam"
This words are really proven when I live here in Edinburgh.
There's a lot to be seen but I will just share what I have gone through.
1. Muslims as brothers....
I still remember the first time I went to Edinburgh Central Mosque, I was greeted by everyone with " Assalamua'laikum/ Assalamua'laik". It feels like we know each other even though we are not. Well, that's their mindset. They think and strongly believe that all Muslims are brothers (we admit the same thing in Malaysia but we forgot to act as one).
2. Mosque as a place for social life
Mosque is also the place for ukhwah. We meet at the mosque, greet and ask about each other. Here, we could see their relationship with the hand shake and warm hugs.
3. "Amar Makruf Nahi Munkar" with "ihsan"
Muslims here like to give advice to those who made mistakes. One time, I performed Zuhur prayer. After I was done, the man beside me, put his hands on me saying, "Brothers, I would like to say something. We cannot recite out loud during Zuhur and Asar prayer as it will disturb others"
"I'm sorry"
"It's fine brothers. Just a reminder for us"
The way is different. We should not correct others but advise those who made mistakes. Do it with "ihsan" so that people easily accept it.
4. Mosque is a respectful place and a place to learn about Islam
Here, non muslims are free to have a tour around the mosque. They are even allowed to get in during Jumaat prayer to learn about Islam. I have seen non-muslim in the mosque area many times. They spent their time trying to learn about Islam.
Do we give this kind of chance in Malaysia? Some people might say, "It's not suitable because if the same thing is done in Malaysia, non-muslim might take this chance to insult or make fun of our holy place.
My answer: that's because Malaysian muslims themselves did not respect mosque. They left it as monument not as a "real" mosque. Try yourself, go to the mosque and see who are there. We can only see old man...
Bak kata Ustaz Haslin Baharin, "yang datang masjid semuanya bakal2 jenazah. Kalau ustaz buat lawak pn, gelak jadi batuk kering"
Bak kata Ustaz Haslin Baharin, "yang datang masjid semuanya bakal2 jenazah. Kalau ustaz buat lawak pn, gelak jadi batuk kering"
The point here is, we need to reflect ourselves everytime. Are we true muslims? Ask yourself....
Today's Hadith

Rasulullah SAW said, "Do not wear silk. Those who wear silk will not wear it in Heaven"
Description by Imam Edinburgh Central Mosque
Rasulullah SAW forbid us(men) from wearing silk as it is a cloth for those in Heaven. Obviously, women are not forbidden and free to wear it. However, in desperate situation, where wearing silk is the only way in treatment or method to live, men are allowed to do so.
He finished the Zuhur tazkirah with "Let us wear silk together in Heaven, In Sha Allah"
Jazakallahukhairankathira...

Masjid Di Oversea
11/01/2014
Bismillah,
Arriving at 7.30 pm in Edinburgh from our visit to Glasgow, my housemates and I went to the mosque to perform our prayer at Edinburgh Central Mosque. Isha' prayer is performed jamaah at 7pm so the mosque is usually closed at 7.30 pm. However, we are lucky enough to arrive at the mosque just before the security guard locks the door.
"Are you coming to pray ?"
"Yes, is it close"
"Do you have wudu' ?"
"No, we dont..."
"It's fine, just go get your wudu' as quick as possible"
We rushed down and took our wudu'(as the place for wudu' is downstair). Then we went up....
"Guys, just be calm. Dont rush. Relax. Perform your prayer comfortably. I will lock the door for a while and I will go check around the mosque. Remember, dont rush. Perform your prayer nicely. I will come back to let you out"
After we finished our prayer, while we are putting on our shoes, we had a chat (kinda introduction) then we left after thanking him.
P/S: the main point that I want to bring here is how in non-islamic country, its muslim is really thoughtful and true muslim even if we are just looking at the security guard.
1. He is willing to wait for us even though his working time is over because it's already 8pm
2. He emphasize the importance of comfort(as not in rush) in performing prayers
3. He even got time to have a chat(tanya khabar) - this kind of approach is really important in strengthening the ukhwah between brothers.
in Malaysia, do we have these kind of situation. we wight or might not. Not trying to criticize but try to tell that we, Malaysians need to be a true muslim in all aspects :D
